Laser Vein Removal (LVR) uses intense light that creates thermal energy to shrink vein tissue. The heated tissue contracts, pinching the vein closed, resulting in scar tissue forming and permanently closing the vein. Without blood flow, the now unusable vein is invisible, and the tissue is reduced. Laser treatments are available for minor and more significant vein abnormalities.
Vein laser treatments are also frequently utilized for the treatment of more minor cosmetic issues, such as spider veins or skin veins/capillaries of the legs, ankles, feet, and face.
Good candidates for LVR include individuals who have spider and varicose veins and are in good overall health. The treatment may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions or skin types.
Your technician will begin by consulting with you to determine the primary area of concern and best treatment options before starting your procedure. We’ll review your medical history to ensure you are a candidate for LVR. Your expert technician will then clean the treatment area, and begin the LVR procedure. The procedure duration is dependent on the size of the area being treated, but most patients can expect to be in the office for 30 minutes to 1 hour on average. This has little to no down time, and regular activity may be resumed the following day.
